Science and Society Discussion Series: Toxic Chemicals, Health Scares & The Internet

Thursday, April 18, 2019

Reality, Fantasy, or a Little Bit of Both? with DR Michael S. Denison, PhD The internet and World Wide Web are tremendous resources for useful information on almost every topic, however, they are also a major source of inaccurate and/or deceptive “myth-information”. This is particularly troubling when it comes to stories and websites about toxic chemicals, food and product safety and health scares. Using numerous internet and website examples of both real and fake toxic chemical health scares, Mike will discuss ways to help you determine what’s fact and what’s fiction. The Science & Society sessions provide opportunities for the public and those engaged in research and policymaking to share ideas and concerns. All are welcome to attend, and we encourage an open dialog on all the topics presented. For information: Contact science.library@cityofwoodland.org.
