  1. Basic Electricity and Electronics

    February 8, 2020, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM @ Square One

The course offers hands-on instruction. All hand tools, digital voltmeters, component boards, power supplies, and electronic components will be available to the participants for continued use throughout the duration of the course. Participants will learn how to assemble simple circuits, make electrical measurements, and do simple electrical calculations. Actual working circuits will be assembled on a reusable circuit board, so no soldering is required. The goal is to develop an understanding of circuit parameters such as voltage, current, power, energy, and to learn how to measure or compute these electrical quantities. The correct use and understanding of electrical terms is emphasized. The course is taught by an experienced instructor. Class size is limited. Sign up at the Square One desk. For more technical information on the course, call (530) 723-2099. Participants must be 14 or older, have a valid Woodland Public Library card and a Square One waiver on file.

  2. The Noisy Craft

    February 8, 2020, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM @ Square One

Craft Your Own Sound! From cardboard guitar to plexiglass flute to printer motors, with some tools and a little bit of imagination, it is possible to create a lot of different instruments and sound machines. This workshop is not just about crafting your own noisemaker, it is also about the recycling and the ecological aspects of creation. During this first workshop, we will build a single-stringed electric guitar and a contact microphone. Bring your Woodland Public Library card and your picture ID, and wear closed-toed shoes. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Waivers are required and are available at the desk.
